During its August meeting, the Mogadore Board of Education heard an inspiring story from 9th grade student athlete Ava Murphy and accepted a donation from Shoot-A-Way to support the volleyball and girls basketball programs.
Shoot-A-Way is a company that sells a basketball shooting machine for players to practice drills. Its owner, John Joseph, learned about how Mogadore’s own multiport athlete Ava, was using his product to practice both her volleyball and basketball skills. A video of Ava using the Shoot-A-Way machine went viral this summer, eventually leading to a visit from Mr. Joseph. Ava was inspired by Mr. Joseph’s life story, in which from hard work, dreams can come true. In turn, Mr. Joseph was inspired by Ava’s ingenuity to use the machine for both basketball and volleyball.
Congratulations Ava, we are proud of your hard work and dedication! Thank you to Shoot-A-Way for your generous donation to the volleyball and girls basketball programs.
