This note accompanies the all-text alert you received regarding school tomorrow. We are continuing to monitor the weather and local conditions and try to make the best possible decisions with the information available. Should a family have concerns about their ability to safely send their children to school we will support your decision (please let us know through the attendance line). My thinking is always about safety first for Kindergarten through 12th graders and the staff too which are a wide range of individuals–young students walking through to older students who may be driving to the career center and/or colleges/universities during their school day and the staff who travel to work. Given these variables it is critical for families to think about their unique situation and know we will support your decision either way.
Resources we use:
Weather.gov (not .com) and enter the zip code for Mogadore into the bubble on the left side of the screen. I review the hourly details and compare these against actual occurrences in Mogadore. The National Weather Service provides a windchill chart I also review, however it is only a guide (remember we serve students K-12th).
What about the days we have been off and will we need to make up days???
Try not to overthink about this as winter is not over and safety is priority one! Ohio requires students K-6th to annually receive 910 hours of instruction* while 7-12th graders must have at least 1001 hours. By counting in hours and being creative we can sort any missed instructional time if we have to. For context, as of today (January 28, 2026) O.H. Somers has about 50.25 available hours while 7-12th has about 13.5 hours remaining before any minimum instructional hours concerns must be addressed. But remember, winter is not over and your children and staff safety is paramount.
*Included in instructional time: classroom learning, two parent teacher conferences, and two staff professional development days.

Junior and Senior High School fees are now due. All school fees, including Library fees, Uniforms, Lunch fees, and Final Forms, must be paid and submitted to maintain your ProgressBook account, per our school policy.
We accept exact cash, checks payable to Mogadore Local Schools, or payments through PaySchools Central on the Mogadore Local School website using a credit card.
